MUSIC: Rivka A
French Londoner Rivka A. delivers some truly exciting and soulful vocals with her exotic accent. A complete blend of new soul breaks, acoustic and hip-hop laced by multi-instrumentalist and ultra creative producer D.A.T.A (Ditox At The Asylum). The pair are currently writing their first album and preparing live shows coming up this spring and summer. An EP is available to buy at www.indiestore.com/rivkaa. Rivka A. and D.A.T.A are like brother and sister, their music bond is extremely strong. The buzz they create either on stage or in the studio is unique. Creating a fresh, eclectic and addictive sound is a must for them. Something new is in the air and people are ready for it. Rivka A. myspace page has gone over 30,000 hits in less than a year. The famous American TV program "The L-word" has just used their song "B." for their show.

What the Judges thought

Guy Holmes of Gut Records said of Rivka A. song 'B' -
"It didnt sound like anything else in the competition - unique is an overused word, but this is just that."
DESIGN: Chris Jarvis (Jarvdesign)

What the Judges thought

John Glasgow, Director of Vault49 said of Jarvdesign's work - "We felt Jarvdesign had a well rounded portfolio showing their design abilities within typography, illustration, photographic illustration & composition."
FILM: Alun De Pughe (eljazz)
I come from a digital film making background and after years of experience in the music world have an excellent feel for rhythm and visual melodies. My first short, The Girl, The Gun and The Desert, won a JVC Digital Video Award in June 2005 and since then has been officially selected and screened in The Cardiff International Film Festival, repeatedly shown on SKY TV and recently won Best Film Noir 2006 at Swansea Bay Film Festival. Though my primary role is as a director I also like to edit and, whenever possible, be as hands on as possible with the film's photography. I plan on bringing something new and fresh to the UK film industry combining vision and passion.

What the Judges thought

Adam Shakinovsky at Agile Films said of Alun De Pughe's work - "We feel that the piece has a focused intensity - built organically into the narrative - that would stand on it's own regardless of the potent soundtrack. The sense of guilt, anxiety and frightened rage was tangible and the film maker is to be commended. This is a fine example of how film can, without dialogue, create compelling context & a gripping narrative."
